Jersey swimmer Filip Nowacki surged into the ultimate of the 100m breaststroke on the World Junior Championships because the quickest qualifier.
The 17-year-old gained the opening semi-final in 59.24 seconds, forward of Greek Evangelos Ephraim Ntoumas in 59.77 and fellow Briton Max Morgan in 59.93.
These three, plus Japan’s Shin Ohashi, who gained the second semi in 59.72, have been the one swimmers to interrupt the one-minute mark.
Nowacki, who’s chasing medals in three occasions at this week’s six-day championships in Otopeni, Romania, earlier gained the final of 9 heats in 59.84 seconds.
The 100m breaststroke remaining takes place on Wednesday night.
