A younger squad has landed its first ever nationwide medal for Guernsey.
Guernsey Tumbling Squad despatched its largest ever crew to the English Gymnastics Championships in Telford final week the place 10-year-old Robbie received a bronze medal.
Coach Bobby Montague stated he was “actually proud to see how far they’ve come as a squad and as people”.
Robbie is about to compete within the second qualifier for the British Gymnastics Championships later in June.
Robbie stated it had been “very nerve-wracking” to indicate his somersaults in Telford however that he “loves the way it’s actually enjoyable”.
He defined he had used a brand new mixture of tumbles within the competitors which included whips, flicks and a full twist and straight again ending.
He stated: “I used to be more than happy as a result of as a result of there have been some very difficult individuals in my class.
“It was very thrilling as a result of once I began I did not actually know a lot about it and three and a half years later I received a bronze medal on the English Gymnastics Championships!”
Mr Montague stated it had been the primary time a gymnast from the squad had competed within the elite class.
He stated two of the members of the crew, Rosie and Myra had been ranked eleventh within the nation and Mason had been ranked fourth.
Robbie stated his dream was to compete within the World Gymnastic Championships.
“Even when I got here final, to get to that stage can be superb,” he added.
