Nice Britain gained two swimming gold medals in 15 magical minutes within the pool on the Paris Paralympics on Monday.
World champion Ellie Challis first put in a dominant efficiency to win the ladies’s S3 50m backstroke remaining.
Then Louise Fiddes, 23, held off Brazilian favourites Debora and Beatriz Carneiro to take the S14m 100m breaststroke remaining.
The 2 Britons are room-mates in Paris and each improved on the silver medals they gained three years in the past in Tokyo.
Fiddes advised Channel 4 earlier than her race she was “on the sting of her seat” watching Challis, who she labelled a “queen”.
“If she will do it, I can do it,” she added.
Challis, 20, swam a lifetime better of 53.56 seconds, nearly 5 seconds away from second-placed Russian Zoia Shchurova, with Spain’s Marta Fernandez Infante taking bronze.
She is going to now look to again up Monday’s dominant efficiency within the S3 100m freestyle heats on Tuesday.
Fiddes, who took bronze within the S14 200m freestyle two days in the past, completed 0.55 seconds away from second-placed Debora Carneiro, with twin Beatriz Carneiro successful bronze.
“There have been so a few years once I felt like my dream was slipping away,” a tearful Fiddes added afterwards. “Solely on this 12 months, I began getting again to it.”
After 5 days within the pool in Paris, ParalympicsGB have gained 18 medals, 13 of them gold.
