The NHL commerce market has been a busy place over the previous few weeks, and the rumor mill is churning.
As soon as we get by way of the vacation roster freeze (Dec. 20-27), names of doable commerce targets will start swirling round groups with elevated pace resulting in the March 7 deadline — whether or not these names emerge from perception, hypothesis, widespread sense or just because a fan base is curious if a given participant could be a superb match on their workforce.
This week, The Athletic requested its NHL workers to determine one participant or decide every workforce ought to goal in a commerce. Some reporters selected huge swings able to drastically altering a franchise’s trajectory, whereas others took a extra sensible method.
Senior author James Mirtle checked out all of the proposed targets and got here up with an inexpensive acquisition price. Every transaction was then assessed with the price in thoughts. Does a deal make sense?
Right here’s what we got here up with.
Goal: Mitch Marner, RW (TOR)* — Eric Stephens
(* Full no-move clause)
Price: Persistence to attend till July 1 after which signal him to a seven-year contract with $14.5 million AAV — Mirtle
Actuality: It’s a pipe dream for positive, however Marner would give their ahead group a jolt and could be an enormous fish for basic supervisor Pat Verbeek to land after he struck out on Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault final summer time. The Geese might clear a variety of cap area in the event that they traded Cam Fowler and John Gibson, and moved on from pending free brokers Frank Vatrano, Brian Dumoulin, Robby Fabbri and Brock McGinn. Jacob Trouba could possibly be off their books by the 2026 commerce deadline. The issue right here is making Anaheim engaging sufficient for Marner, and an overpay is probably going vital. And would Verbeek need the established Marner to set his pay scale, or the a lot youthful Leo Carlsson — who might seemingly be his No. 1 middle — for his prime years? — Stephens
Goal: Brady Tkachuk, LW (OTT) — Fluto Shinzawa
Price: Charlie McAvoy, RHD (BOS)* — Mirtle
(* Full no-move clause)
Actuality: The Bruins are determined for a younger, expert and bodily ahead. Tkachuk has ties to the realm as a former Boston College Terrier. His father, Keith, can also be from Melrose, Mass. And Brady performs Bruins hockey. However giving up McAvoy could be too excessive a value. It could create an issue for which the Bruins haven’t any answer. — Shinzawa
Goal: Chris Kreider, LW (NYR)* — Matthew Fairburn
(* 15-team no-trade record)
Price: Mattias Samuelsson, LHD (BUF) — Mirtle
Actuality: The Sabres are in dire want of one other top-six ahead. Kreider’s expertise and talent to complete performs across the web could be an ideal match for what ails Buffalo’s ahead group. Kreider would match comfortably into the Sabres’ cap scenario, particularly in the event that they moved Samuelsson and his $4.2 million cap hit. The Sabres have a surplus of left-shot defensemen, and Samuelsson has usually been injured since signing his extension. This might be a threat price taking if Kreider had been by some means keen to come back to Buffalo. — Fairburn
Goal: Marco Rossi, C (MIN) — Julian McKenzie
Price: Yegor Sharangovich, C (CGY) and a second-round decide — Mirtle
Actuality: The Flames have sought a younger ahead between the ages of 18 and 23 whom they may maintain long-term as they infuse youthful expertise round their nucleus. Similar to Sharangovich, Rossi is a flexible ahead who can play wing and middle. If the Wild are fast to maneuver on from him, you’ll be able to count on the Flames to kick tires. You need to suppose, with the potential of groups in search of his companies, that the asking value will go up. (It additionally helps that Rossi is enjoying at a excessive degree whereas Sharangovich is off to a gradual begin.) However buying Rossi could be an improve on the marginally older Sharangovich. The Flames are additionally unafraid of parting with draft picks to accumulate younger expertise and so they have two second-round picks in 2025. If that’s what it takes, the Flames ought to be throughout this transfer. — McKenzie
Goal: Brock Nelson, C (NYI)* — Cory Lavalette
(* 16-team no-trade record)
Price: First-round decide — Mirtle
Actuality: The Hurricanes have been and not using a true No. 2 middle for years. Final yr’s Evgeny Kuznetsov experiment failed, however Nelson could possibly be a short-term repair. A pending UFA, Nelson would convey measurement and scoring to Carolina’s prime six, and he’s not a defensive legal responsibility. A primary-round decide appears honest, however I’d count on the Hurricanes to get inventive — as they did in buying Jake Guentzel final yr — in the event that they wish to pry Nelson off Lengthy Island. — Lavalette
Goal: Second-round decide — Scott Powers
Price: Alec Martinez, LHD (CHI) — Mirtle
Actuality: The Blackhawks will seemingly be seeking to transfer all of their expiring contracts on the deadline. In signing Martinez to a one-year deal this previous offseason, basic supervisor Kyle Davidson was hopeful Martinez would convey stability to the protection, assist convey alongside the younger defensemen after which draw commerce curiosity. The Blackhawks would gladly welcome a second-round decide for him. — Powers
Goal: Yanni Gourde, C (SEA)* — Jesse Granger
(* 23-team commerce record)
Price: First-round decide or prime prospect — Mirtle
Actuality: After utterly re-working his goaltending, basic supervisor Chris MacFarland hinted that he seemingly wasn’t performed including. The most definitely addition is one other middle-six ahead, and Gourde checks a variety of packing containers. He performs with power and physicality and has confirmed he can elevate his sport when it counts within the playoffs. A primary-round decide or prime prospect is lots to surrender, particularly contemplating Colorado already traded its 2025 first-rounder to Philadelphia for Sean Walker. That may value the Avs out of this commerce, but when they will discover a method to make it work Gourde could be an ideal add. — Granger
Goal: First-round decide — Aaron Portzline
Price: A wholesome Boone Jenner, C (CBJ)* — Mirtle
(* 8-team no-trade record)
Actuality: There’s just one method a Blue Jackets basic supervisor ought to ever think about buying and selling Jenner: if Jenner needs to be traded. Jenner will not be solely the captain however the coronary heart and soul of a franchise that’s lastly headed in the correct path and isn’t removed from being persistently aggressive. He’s additionally actually grown in latest seasons in his potential to guide. Ivan Provorov for a first-rounder? Certain. Not Jenner. — Portzline
Goal: Mikael Granlund, C (SJS) — Mark Lazerus
Price: Two picks (second- and fourth-rounders) — Mirtle
Actuality: What higher method to substitute a 32-year-old middle who was a top-10 decide within the 2010 draft than with one other 32-year-old middle who was a top-10 decide within the 2010 draft? Tyler Seguin’s surgical procedure provides the Stars each the necessity and the cap area so as to add some firepower to their center six, and Granlund is having a profession yr within the last season of his contract. Two picks is a small value to pay. If the Islanders fall out of the playoff image solely and are keen to half with Brock Nelson, that’s one other potential goal. — Lazerus
Goal: Trevor Zegras, C (ANA) — Max Bultman
Price: Nate Danielson, C (DET) — Mirtle
Actuality: The Pink Wings might use extra offensive punch, and Zegras — even along with his flaws as a participant — has that. His manufacturing has been down the final couple of seasons (and he’s now injured), however for a longer-view acquisition, he nonetheless would convey the sort of creativity and playmaking Detroit wants. He’s totally different from the sort of forwards Steve Yzerman has drafted with the Pink Wings, however that’s form of the purpose. He could not have these 200-foot components Detroit covets, however he can break open a shift along with his imaginative and prescient and passing. On this case, although, the price isn’t price it. Danielson is youthful, cost-controlled, and nonetheless a talented playmaker in his personal proper (even when not at Zegras’ degree), whereas additionally bringing a extra full sport. Zegras is a worthy goal for the Pink Wings, however not at this value. — Bultman
Goal: Marcus Pettersson, LHD (PIT)* — Daniel Nugent-Bowman
(*Eight-team no-trade record)
Price: First-round decide — Mirtle
Actuality: Darnell Nurse’s enchancment and Brett Kulak’s effectiveness on the correct facet means the Oilers may be extra inclined to make a much bigger swing up entrance. Right here’s banking that an Evander Kane return retains their concentrate on the blue line. Oilers general manager Stan Bowman told The Athletic last month that the worth level for a defenseman could possibly be extra essential of their decision-making than handedness. A primary-rounder is a steep price for a pending UFA, particularly for the reason that Oilers have their 2025 decide tied up in a commerce with Philadelphia. The Oilers would seemingly want the Penguins to retain a few of Pettersson’s $4,025,175 cap hit. However he’d be a superb match on the ice and is nice buddies with winger Viktor Arvidsson. — Nugent-Bowman
Goal: Tyson Barrie, RHD (CGY) — Sean Gentille
Price: Third-round decide — Mirtle
Actuality: Florida might use another choice on its blue line, and basic supervisor Invoice Zito has mentioned as a lot. That’s simpler mentioned than performed, although, given the defending champs’ long- and short-term cap obligations and customarily dry prospect pool. Barrie is a proper shot who may also help on the facility play and would carry a minimal price ($1.25 million AAV). The Panthers might use all of that, provided that neither Adam Boqvist nor Uvis Balinskis has appeared like a lot of a solution, and third-round picks don’t matter a lot for a win-now workforce. — Gentille
Goal: Joel Farabee, LW (PHI) — Eric Stephens
Price: First-round decide — Mirtle
Actuality: This one is difficult. The Kings have performed above expectations and so they’re clearly out to win now, but it surely’s arduous to purchase into them being a real contender after a 3rd straight first-round exit final spring. And whereas they stored their first-round decide for 2024, they mortgaged prior first-round decisions for Kevin Fiala and Vladislav Gavrikov. Farabee, 24, has had a tough begin for Philadelphia this yr however he averages 19 targets each 82 video games in his profession and has the aptitude for extra at an inexpensive $5 million value level. Whereas Trevor Moore is the most recent in a cycle of left wings to play on the highest line with Anze Kopitar, the defensively stout Kings might use one other scoring winger to strengthen themselves towards top-flight competitors. But it surely’s going to take fairly a bundle to get an inexpensive younger ahead who nonetheless has three years left on his contract after this season. May a lottery-protected 2026 first-rounder and Alex Turcotte begin the dialog? — Stephens
Minnesota Wild
Goal: Brock Nelson, C (NYI)* — Michael Russo
(*16-team no-trade record)
Price: First-round decide — Mirtle
Actuality: It’s seemingly that the Wild plan to focus on Nelson, though they’ll first have to get again out of LTIR to allow them to accrue the cap area. In addition they already traded their 2025 first-round decide for David Jiricek, which suggests they’ll should commerce a future first-rounder or get inventive with a prime prospect and second-round decide. Nelson, whose sport Wild (and Staff USA) basic supervisor Invoice Guerin respects a lot that he put him on the U.S. 4 Nations Face-Off roster, is anyone who can play up and down the lineup, at wing or middle, kill penalties, win attracts and play on the facility play. — Russo
Goal: David Spacek, RHD (MIN/AHL) — Arpon Basu
Price: Joel Armia, RW (MTL) — Mirtle
Actuality: That is much less so about Spacek particularly than what he represents: a younger, right-shot defenseman belonging to a contending workforce who will not be essentially a blue-chip prospect however is near being NHL-ready. There are a number of across the league. And if the price for touchdown one in all them is Armia, the Canadiens would absolutely do it, and they’d be much more keen to do one thing like this than buying and selling Armia for a draft decide or two. — Basu
Goal: Trevor Zegras, C (ANA) — Joe Rexrode
Price: Joakim Kemell, RW (NSH) and a second-round decide — Mirtle
Actuality: The Preds shouldn’t do that, partly as a result of this season is quickly turning to toast anyway, and since Kemell is an enormous a part of this franchise’s future — which at this level seems like a variety of ache within the close to time period with growing old, fading stars accumulating massive checks. The Zegras thought is rooted within the Preds’ endless seek for extra oomph down the center. Although Zegras has performed on the wing lots this season, he has the instruments. However this workforce seems unsaveable. — Rexrode
Goal: Nick Bjugstad, C (UTA) — Peter Baugh
Price: Two picks (second- and fifth-rounders) — Mirtle
Actuality: Common supervisor Tom Fitzgerald informed The Athletic’s Pierre LeBrun he’s looking to add ahead depth, and Bjugstad might make sense. He can play middle or wing and had 22 targets for Arizona in 2023-24. The Devils will seemingly have three 2025 second-round picks (they’ll lose one if Jake Allen performs greater than 40 video games and so they make the playoffs), so Fitzgerald has some belongings to play with when trying so as to add depth, be it for somebody like Bjugstad, one other bottom-six ahead or somebody within the prime 9. — Baugh
Goal: Shane Pinto, C (OTT) — Arthur Staple
Price: Alexander Romanov, LHD (NYI) — Mirtle
Actuality: The Islanders might definitely use some scoring up entrance and to get youthful. Pinto, a Lengthy Island native, would assistance on each fronts. There’s zero likelihood they’d commerce Romanov, although. He’s been a top-pair defenseman for the Islanders for the final year-plus. — Staple
Goal: Marcus Pettersson, LHD (PIT)* — Peter Baugh
(*Eight-team no-trade record)
Price: First-round decide — Mirtle
Actuality: With Jacob Trouba gone, the Rangers will wish to improve a defensive group that’s presently enjoying a rookie Victor Mancini, a struggling Ryan Lindgren and a participant in Zac Jones who has zero video games of playoff expertise — and needed to name up Connor Mackey on Friday to sub in for K’Andre Miller, although that seems to be a short-term scenario. Pettersson would fill a top-four want, although basic supervisor Chris Drury must determine if a first-round decide is an excessive amount of to half with for a rental. — Baugh
Goal: Rasmus Andersson, RHD (CGY)* — Julian McKenzie
(*Six-team no-trade record)
Price: Shane Pinto, C (OTT) and a second-round decide — Mirtle
Actuality: Pending his no-trade record, Andersson could be a implausible slot in Ottawa. He’s a top-pairing defenseman who can munch minutes and play each scenario you want whereas being efficient at each ends of the ice. You may pair him with Jake Sanderson up prime or play him alongside Thomas Chabot if want be. Sure, it might imply transferring on from a key participant to accumulate him. Additionally, the Senators are already going through the lack of a first-round decide both in 2025 or 2026. So, the Senators are going to lose out on some draft capital on the prime of their subsequent two drafts in the event that they do that. Shifting on from Pinto impacts the workforce’s middle depth, however the blow could possibly be stomached by buying a longtime defenseman coming into his prime. For the Senators, who’re attempting to raise themselves to contender standing, Andersson’s acquisition could be a tradition shock. Probably for the higher. — McKenzie
Goal: Shane Pinto, C (OTT) — Kevin Kurz
Price: Tyson Foerster, RW (PHI) — Mirtle
Actuality: Though the Flyers are in want of a middle, significantly somebody who may work nicely with Matvei Michkov, giving up a promising younger winger in Foerster might be an excessive amount of. Foerster is likely one of the few Flyers forwards with measurement, and his two-way play has made him a favourite of coach John Tortorella, even when Foerster acquired off to a gradual begin this season. A extra palatable deal may seem like Joel Farabee and a draft decide, because the Flyers have three first-round and three second-round picks going into the 2025 draft. — Kurz
Goal: Marco Rossi, C (MIN) — Rob Rossi
Price: Bryan Rust, RW (PIT)* — Mirtle
(*Full no-move clause)
Actuality: Evgeni Malkin has just one season remaining on his contract. Even when he opts to play past it, he’d seemingly solely go a further season — permitting him and Sidney Crosby to probably take a mixed bow in 2027. However that’s an enormous if, and it’s not unreasonable to check Malkin transferring to wing on Crosby’s line in his last days with the Penguins, presuming they will discover a younger, expert middle to supplant him. Rossi is precisely the kind of younger focus on whom Kyle Dubas’ (don’t name it a) rebuild could possibly be fast-tracked. The Penguins embrace talent and scoring greater than any franchise, and Rossi would convey each together with an infusion of youth. Bryan Rust has a full no-movement clause by way of this season and his spouse is from the Pittsburgh space. He doesn’t wish to go away, however he hates dropping — and maybe a reunion with Wild basic supervisor Invoice Guerin, who oversaw Rust’s growth with the Penguins, would entice him. He would convey a Cup veteran’s presence and flexibility to Minnesota, and the Penguins would get a prized constructing block at a pivotal level for the franchise. Looks as if a win-win. — Rossi
Goal: Nikolaj Ehlers, LW/RW (WPG)* — Eric Stephens
(*Ten-team no-trade record)
Price: Persistence to attend till July 1 after which signal him to an eight-year contract with $8 million AAV — Mirtle
Actuality: Quick-tracking the rebuild isn’t the wisest transfer on the floor however touchdown Ehlers as a free agent — a scenario through which no belongings are misplaced — would present the workforce needs to win within the coming years. It’s an enormous monetary dedication however they will comfortably put Macklin Celebrini atop their pay scale with the cap persevering with to rise. Salaries resembling Mikael Granlund, Cody Ceci, Luke Kunin, Nico Sturm and Jan Rutta could possibly be off their books, and so they’ll be completed with paying Marc-Edouard Vlasic after subsequent season. Ehlers would give San Jose one other confirmed top-six winger with pace and talent. The query is giving $8 million for that lengthy to somebody good for 25 to 29 targets and 60-plus factors however who by no means appears to place up extra regardless of his offensive expertise. — Stephens
Goal: Hunter Shepard, G (WSH) — Thomas Drance
Price: Second-round decide — Mirtle
Actuality: The Kraken have to stabilize their backup goaltending in the event that they’re going to catch up within the Pacific Division playoff race. So far, actually, the Kraken are in all probability, talent-wise, a playoff-caliber workforce — with one obtrusive exception. In video games that Philipp Grubauer has began, they’re 3-8-0 and he’s put up an .881 save share in these video games. Seattle wants an inexpensive reinforcement in web, and its American League netminders lack the pedigree and monitor file to switch Grubauer. A participant resembling Shepard — an elite AHL netminder, with some NHL expertise in want of an actual shot — would appear to suit the invoice. A second-round decide is simply too wealthy, particularly provided that Shepard’s contract is expiring and the Capitals have already prolonged his platoon mate in Hershey. He’s the form of piece the Kraken want, however they will’t pay a second-rounder for a participant who would undertaking to look in 15 to twenty video games for them over the stability of the season. — Drance
Goal: Trent Frederic, LW (BOS) — Jeremy Rutherford
Price: First-round decide — Mirtle
Actuality: Followers will surprise why I didn’t select Toronto’s Mitch Marner or one other goal-scorer. The Blues don’t have the salary-cap room, and I imagine they need to wait so as to add that participant once they’re a contender. I selected Frederic not as a result of he’s a St. Louis native, however as a result of he might convey much-needed toughness and in addition as a result of Jim Montgomery, his coach in Boston, may have the ability to assist him rediscover his offense. I might not pay a first-round decide, although, as a result of the Blues might merely attempt to signal the pending unrestricted free agent subsequent summer time. — Rutherford
Goal: Yanni Gourde, C (SEA)* — Shayna Goldman
(*23-team commerce record)
Price: First-round decide or prime prospect — Mirtle
Actuality: The Lightning have a harmful top-six however want extra bottom-six assist alongside Nick Paul and Conor Geekie. Groups with championship aspirations want 4 dependable strains — like Tampa Bay had in 2020 and 2021. A reunion with Gourde would assist; he brings a disruptive type that thrives within the playoffs, secondary scoring and two-way play. Possibly the market will elevate the worth to a first-rounder, however the Lightning might attempt to push the worth all the way down to a second-rounder (even with wage retention). The Lightning don’t have many prospects, however have a 2026 first-rounder and two 2025 second-rounders at their disposal. — Goldman
Goal: Yanni Gourde, C (SEA)* — Jonas Siegel
(*23-team commerce record)
Price: First-round decide or Ben Danford, RHD (TOR/OHL) — Mirtle
Actuality: Gourde seems just like the third-line middle the Leafs want proper now. He’s extremely aggressive, he’s fast, he can tackle troublesome matchups, he can kill penalties and he can ship some offense from decrease within the lineup. He was an integral a part of the Lightning throughout back-to-back Stanley Cup runs. Is he price a first-round decide? I’m not so positive. However given the dearth of doubtless out there facilities and the numerous groups that want one, perhaps he’ll web one for Seattle (if the workforce decides to commerce him in any respect). Ought to the Leafs be the workforce to do it? I’d be extra inclined to deal Danford than the first-round decide, provided that his ceiling may be that of a third-pairing defenseman within the NHL. The Leafs don’t personal a first-rounder in 2025 both, so it must be a 2026 decide. Or perhaps the Leafs can promote the Kraken on the bundle that New York paid for Alex Wennberg final spring, second- and fifth-round picks? Price will clearly should be a consideration, however Gourde is the kind of participant the Leafs ought to be (and might be) prioritizing forward of the deadline. — Siegel

GO DEEPER
A different kind of training camp: Inside a first-rounder’s Leafs initiation
Goal: A prime prospect — Mirtle
Price: Nick Bjugstad, C (UTA) or Karel Vejmelka, G (UTA) — Mirtle
Actuality: Two years in the past, when Utah HC had been the Arizona Coyotes, they made an excellent commerce on the deadline: Bjugstad to the Oilers for a third-round decide and a then-relatively unknown prospect, Michael Kesselring. He has since blossomed into an enormous, cell top-four defenseman for Utah, with 15 factors in 29 video games up to now this season. Common supervisor Invoice Armstrong has a stable bounty to make use of to extract extra picks and prospects from shopping for groups this yr. Along with Bjugstad and Vejmelka, who has been among the best goalies of the league of late, the Hockey Clubbers even have Alex Kerfoot, Michael Carcone, Ian Cole, Olli Maatta and Robert Bortuzzo on expiring offers. — Mirtle
Goal: Will Borgen, RHD (SEA) — Thomas Drance
Price: Second-round decide — Mirtle
Actuality: The Canucks want extra assistance on protection — that’s been obvious all season — but it surely’s a necessity that’s about to be magnified over the medium time period by Filip Hronek’s eight-week absence. Vancouver was going to wish to bolster the correct facet of its again finish anyway, however the Hronek scenario ups the stakes. This entrance workplace is exceptionally aggressive about making in-season trades traditionally and has particularly moved proactively to spice up its blue line in instances of want — the membership dealt for Nikita Zadorov in late November of 2023, for instance, after Carson Soucy was injured. Among the many pending unrestricted free-agent defenders, Borgen stands out. He’s comparatively inexpensive cap-wise, he’s nonetheless comparatively younger (and would characterize a possible long-term match from a Vancouver perspective) and he’s a reputable top-four possibility with sufficient offensive juice to probably work as a fill-in caddy for Quinn Hughes on Vancouver’s prime pair. He checks all of the packing containers. The Canucks appear to be fairly reticent about dealing vital futures or good younger gamers for rental-type defenders, however a second-round decide for a participant resembling Borgen, who’s younger sufficient that the membership may be keen to outbid different suitors for his companies, could be a no brainer. If the Kraken, who organizationally nonetheless have designs on competing for a playoff spot, determine to promote between now and the deadline, this might be an ideal match at an inexpensive sufficient value for the Canucks. — Drance
Goal: Gustav Nyquist, C (NSH) — Jesse Granger
Price: Two picks (second- and third-rounders) — Mirtle
Actuality: With out a first-round decide for the following two years, the Golden Knights gained’t be making the identical sort of splashy additions they did earlier than final yr’s deadline. Nyquist looks like the kind of mid-level participant Vegas likes so as to add to its middle-six. He’s a artful playmaker with the puck, and whereas he hasn’t been as productive this season, he’s coming off a 75-point season. The Golden Knights have their second-round decide and two further third-rounders, so the worth is correct. — Granger
Goal: Nils Höglander, LW (VAN) — Sean Gentille
Price: Martin Fehervary, LHD (WSH) or Trevor van Riemsdyk, RHD (WSH) — Mirtle
Actuality: Pretty much as good because the Caps have been, they may use a bit extra pop of their center six. Höglander has some historical past as a play-driver, the flexibility to pop in 15 targets or so (final season’s scorching streak apart), and at 23, might stick within the lineup for a couple of years. The query is whether or not it’d be price sending again the defenseman that Vancouver requires; van Riemsdyk may make sense, as fellow right-shot Dylan McIlrath has given Washington some respectable low-impact minutes. — Gentille
Goal: MacKenzie Weegar, RHD (CGY)* — Murat Ates
(*Full no-trade clause)
Price: Brad Lambert, C (WPG) (or equal) — Mirtle
Actuality: I focused Weegar as a result of I see him as an excellent top-pairing complement for Josh Morrissey. Weegar is hard, he’s a powerful penalty-killer, he wins battles in entrance of his web and he’s a right-handed defenseman who performs first-pairing competitors and beats it. He’s not a rental, both. Weegar’s $6.25 million contract runs by way of the top of 2030-31, implying a prime 4 of Morrissey, Weegar, Dylan Samberg and Elias Salomonsson. Brad Lambert is an inexpensive ask from Mirtle, and I imagine the Jets might afford it, even with the long-term growing old threat, however I think about Winnipeg would favor to maintain Lambert nicely into the longer term. — Ates
