Archie Goodburn has received gold within the 100m breaststroke on the Scottish Swimming Championships a 12 months on from being diagnosed with brain cancer.
The 24-year-old from College of Edinburgh held off the problem of Stirling College’s Rafe Dobson in a cushty one minute 2.42 seconds at Edinburgh’s Royal Commonwealth Pool.
Having been runner-up at 50m on the British Championships in April, Goodburn went into the race as robust favorite as he continues to coach for this summer time’s World College Video games and subsequent 12 months’s Commonwealths in Glasgow.
He may even be aiming to retain the Scottish 50m breaststroke crown this weekend.
In the meantime, Aberdeen College’s Faye Rogers lowered her personal S10 200m butterfly world document by greater than half a second to 2:18.24 as she took bronze within the able-bodied remaining.
