The New York Islanders have fired Lou Lamoriello after seven years as crew president and normal supervisor, the team announced Tuesday. Minority proprietor John Collins will lead the seek for a brand new GM.
The 82-year-old Lamoriello was employed in Could 2018 to switch Garth Snow, the primary main rent by majority proprietor Scott Malkin, who took management of the franchise in 2016. Lamoriello instantly introduced on Barry Trotz as coach, and the Islanders loved three seasons of success, reaching back-to-back semifinals within the pandemic-shortened 2019-20 and 2020-21 seasons, earlier than the crew slid all the way down to the playoff bubble.
