Castleford Tigers head coach Danny McGuire has confirmed centre Ben Davies has returned to St Helens as he felt conflicted about taking part in in opposition to his father or mother membership.
The 24-year-old joined the Tigers on a two-week mortgage earlier this month and performed within the opening weekend defeat by Hull KR.
On the time of his arrival, Castleford stated: “If his preliminary mortgage interval is prolonged, Davies is offered to play in opposition to his father or mother membership Saints in spherical two.”
McGuire informed BBC Radio Leeds: “It was an odd one. We had him on a two-week mortgage, and he had the chance to remain and play in opposition to Saints, and he wasn’t fairly snug with the scenario. I get that.”
He added: “We will not afford to have anybody within the setting who is not 100% in, and he had some doubts about taking part in in opposition to his team-mates after which perhaps being again there the week after, so I took it out of his palms, and he is gone again to St Helens.
“It isn’t a perfect scenario, however he was good for us whereas he was right here.”
